Ventrilo Setup Guide

Setting Up Ventrilo Voice Chat

First time account logins will need to be verified by a staff before you will be able to move to other channels or use advanced chat features. If you have problems please contact the person who recruited you or click here to email your issue.

Start by downloading the Ventrilo client from www.ventrilo.com that matches your computer's operating system. (Linux users will need to use Mangler from www.mangler.org to connect to Ventrilo.)

After you have successfully downloaded and installed Ventrilo, click the Ventrilo icon on your desktop (White head with headset) or click “Start” menu, Programs, then Ventrilo to start the program. Once Ventrilo starts you will see this menu. [below]

Next to "User Name", click the arrow (->) to create your username.

A new window will pop up. Click "New" and input a username of your choice. (Preferably something similar to your game character's name.)

Dis-regard the other areas and click "OK". This will return you to the original screen.

Once you have your name created, click the arrow (->) next to "Server" and a new window will come up.

On this screen, click "New" and give the server a name, preferably anything which can help you identify what this Ventrilo server is for. The name will not effect the actual server setup and is for personal identification uses only.

After selecting the name and pressing "OK", you will be able to fill in the Hostname/IP, Port number, and Password for the Ventrilo server you want to connect to. The information for our server is below.

    • Select = Vector Online Gaming
    • Hostname or IP = vent.vectorcmd.com
    • Port number = 47510
    • Password = crystal

Disregard the other areas and click "OK". This will return you to the original screen.

On the Ventrilo main window you should now be able to connect to the server by clicking on "Connect" on the right side of the window.

Windows Vista/7 computers must either have Ventrilo set as "Run as administrator" in program properties or Windows "User Account Control" must be set to off for this program to work fully in the background when using other applications.
